4. Skill Gems and Weapon Slotting

PoE 2’s skill gem system no longer ties your gem growth to gear sockets. Instead:

Weapons and armor have dedicated gem slots.

You can freely swap skills in town or Path of exile currency safe zones.

Level up your primary skill by using it consistently.

This new system reduces frustration and encourages experimentation. Support gems still play a major role—link them to core skills for effects like Increased Area of Effect, Faster Projectiles, or Multistrike.

Pro Tip: Early on, pair your main skill with Increased Damage and Added Elemental Damage supports for quick clear speed.

5. Shapeshifting and New Combat Options

A major addition is shapeshifting, allowing you to instantly transform into animal forms (e.g., bear or wolf) mid-combat. Each form has its own skills and resource pool.

Bear Form: Strong melee skills and tankiness.

Wolf Form: Speed and bleed-based damage.

You can swap forms seamlessly, creating hybrid builds that use different mechanics depending on the situation.

Combat is also more reactive. You can Path of exile currency for sale dodge-roll, block more effectively, and actively parry certain attacks, especially crucial during boss fights.
